There’s an “energy barnraising” weatherization event at the Woo Church, 911 Main St, Worcester, Saturday, December 5th, 11-5pm.

Drew points out that Al Gore is finally speaking out against factory farming. Mike and Drew will be doing some vegan outreach at the local colleges.

Spectrum Health has a peer recovery center at 25 Pleasant St; also a Twitter feed. Mike asks Nicole to post a virtual assignment list.

She has been looking into, among other things, relations between Holy Cross students and their neighbors. This discussion has recently escalated. We need Holy Cross students to invite us to some parties so we can report on them.

Mark Lund has revived theater at Becker; they have some free plays this weekend. There’s an art fest at Union Station Sunday; Seah will be debuting a three-decker tee shirt that sounds like this season’s smash holiday gift.

  1. glad to see scottie guzman join your panel. we have to keep him in this here city.

  2. I’ve written a little about the things I’d like covered in the virtual assignment desk this week on my site.

It should be noted that I have no journalistic experience at all (my major was in English, but I preferred studying Old and Middle English to something that would lead to employment…) so ultimately I would prefer someone who has some sort of a clue to coordinate this.

  3. Also — regarding interviews in particular — I was extremely nervous about interviewing people because (a) I am really shy and (b) I had no idea whether anyone would want to talk with a random blogger. Brendan told me that people are usually willing to talk with someone who’s willing to listen, so I gave it a try. I spoke with a really great lady from the Newton Tree Conservancy last night (after previously telling myself I was going to sound like a total idiot) and I had such a good time and learned quite a bit from her. So — for those who are nervous or shy but feel like they want to report — go for it. You have nothing to lose, and you might be pleasantly surprised at how well things turn out.
